...I like

"it (read America) only exists if it
is an utopia"

(if it does at all (through it s lOWN poetry and art ?)

and

"against all the importers of canned conscience"

and

"surrealism marked Spanish American literature"

heck

maybe it s not much so much the matter or even in the matter

as the difference in the attitude AND the attempt to ACTUALIZE
to 'pin down' on the page whatever size that "page" may be or what material is available to the writer/artist

in-the-moment

that comes Big Mind through whatever means his own mind/experiences via see, feel, hear, smell, taste

use whatever 'tool' available to that ... actualizing ?

need is to merely get beyond the symbols and the graphics of what is on the surface supported by an invisible "tension"

am gonna track down this Cavalho and his piece "Broadway"
see how & if as is indicated here by your excerpt see if The City embraces what he has so done and what Lorca so did (when he was "in" NYC ..

also

gonna delve into those two dec Camposes... (brothers?)

see what of in/via their mind's eyes is in there "stuff"

only trouble just might be (for mw) is what comes through as American-English translationings just might not

fit-the-bill ! as, i fear that just like 99 % of what I see constantly "out 'there'" as what is called 'vispo' is
little more than what we used to call Graphic Arts

now, ? no need for hand-to-eye-to-paper coordination all this computer (crappo) using the same 4 programs
on the same Big Mac machine is getting old...
so is the drivel out there passing for Poetry !

OH WELL:

sometimes
it s not so easy
being myself

no wonder I don't have any friends .... or enemies ..

I never seem to say what is meant but continue
in my own way to give a Ratz Ass !

K.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5593764226213882767.post-86066922357325870732011-08-26T07:19:53.598-07:002011-08-26T07:19:53.598-07:00A very satisfying response to Bernstein's wide...A very satisfying response to Bernstein's wide-angle proposal, especially the references to Pavese and Carvalho. Implicit as well is the other side of the equation, the shame of the colonies. I remember how in their lengthy correspondance, Wallace Stevens kept pestering Jose Rodriguez Feo for information on the native Cuban artists, and Feo always demurred, wanting to talk about Europe or American modernism instead.

For myself, I see I have a lot of work to do, catching up with some Brazilian poets.WAShttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10403669322174979974noreply@blogger.com
