some of the city lights new young german ones are masterpieces unsurpassed by any other versions,
the Krolow, the Celan, the Bachmann
are still better than their later translators' stabs— as for the Enzensbergers, he should have kidnapped you and ensorceled you in some tower and made you his ameramanuensis for life—— "last will and testament" should be required reading in any poetry course . . . (the Grass "Open Wardrobe" almost as good, meaning great—) . . .
